Q: Lately our laundry room drain has had a sewage smell. Is this a city sewage problem, or is there something wrong with our plumbing in the house?
show answer...A: close answer...This usually means your p-trap is dry or almost dry. If you add a couple of cups of water to your floor drain your problem should be solved. If not then it could be a sign of something more serious and it should be checked out.

Q: How can I stay informed of my child's academic progress?
show answer...A: close answer...Here are six things you can do to stay abreast of your child's academic progress this year:
-Take five minutes to say hello to the teacher and to ask how your child is doing in math/reading/spelling/listening, etc.
- Send a note to school with your child to schedule a phone chat with the teacher.
- Follow up when a test is returned to your child. Ask yourself if the results are what you expected. If not, schedule a phone chat with the teacher.
- Go online. If your child's class has a web page, log on and get involved.
- Get help. If there are any issues, seek help as soon as you learn of them.
- Look to the past. Last year's school performance can be a big indicator of potential problems this year. Correct issues early and avoid repeats. -
